FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What services do you offer and how do I use them?

We offer a full bail bonds service and can usually bail out anyone in less than an hour, especially if they are being detained in Orange County facilities. We have offices all over Southern California and can be reached by phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

We are a California licensed bail bonds company with the ability to post bail for just about anyone detained in California. Since our offices are located conveniently near all Southern California Jails we have specialized experience in dealing with bail bonds cases in the Southern California region.

What are the costs to hire you?

The accused agrees to pay us 10% of the total cost of the bail after the trial is over. This is the legally entitled amount due to us by California law and there are never any hidden costs or fees.

If the accused does not meet their legal obligations, misses court dates, or fails to check in with any probation officer if required then additional costs may be incurred as part of your bail agreement.

Do I need to pay collateral for a bail?

In many cases we have relatives and friends sign a bail bond release agreement which legally ensures that everyone involved is responsible for paying the bail if anything goes wrong. This usually means that because a suspect’s family or friends has put down material goods as collateral (usually cars, houses or property and even cash), the suspect tends to be more aware of court dates and other legal obligations they have while out on bail.

Collateral isn’t required 100% of the time. Collateral means that Merlin Bail Bonds has the assurance that if anything goes wrong your bail fees won’t be left up to us to pay for them. We return all collateral once the bail has been repaid.

What is a bounty hunter?

A bounty hunter is an employee hired by Merlin Bail Bonds that goes out in search of people we bailed out of jail who did not go to their appointed court dates. In California bounty hunters must have completed a specialized training and extensive background investigation before working.

Our bounty hunters are professional and hardworking. If a person fails to appear in court when they promised they would we, as their bail posters, are held liable by the court and we stand to lose all or most of the bail that we posted. Because these costs can range anywhere from a few hundred dollars to the millions of dollars we take finding anyone who skips bail very seriously.

Bounty hunters are only used in very rare instances. In most cases, people appear before court, have their trials and the bail is returned to whoever paid it.

How Long Will it Take to Get Out of Jail?

Each and every case is different, depending on the crime arrested and detained for and depending on the type of jail (county or city) the person is being held at. It can take as little as less than one hour or up to 24 hours in some cases.

Call us toll free with any questions regarding your specific case.
